Choose a mood instead of writing it down
Color and shape distinguish choices such as Feel Free, Be happy and Concentrate. Selecting a mood leads to a duration setting.

DESIGN CASE / Hue.in
A mindfulness app design for choosing a mood through color and following short sound and breathing sessions, with screens for mindful minutes in Apple Health.

01 / CONTEXT
Entering feelings or choosing long content can create friction when someone only wants a short pause. Hue.in explored moving directly into an experience rather than starting a record.
The sound concept uses slightly different frequencies in the left and right ears, paired with color and circular inhale/exhale guidance.
Designed screens requesting read/write access to mindful minutes, alongside a weekly history chart.
The concept considers reviewing heart rate alongside mindful minutes. It is presented here as a design direction for health-data integration.
02 / DESIGN DECISIONS
Color and shape distinguish choices such as Feel Free, Be happy and Concentrate. Selecting a mood leads to a duration setting.

The designs offer 30-second, one-minute and 90-second durations. A Start button sits below the duration, and a circular graphic guides inhaling and exhaling during playback.

Be happy, Destress, Concentrate and Confidence have distinct colors and shapes, while duration controls and the Start button stay in the same positions.

03 / THE WORK
Select a screen to enlarge it. Captions identify the design or implementation stage.
An introduction leads to a visual list of moods.
Four colors and shapes share duration controls and the same starting action.
Circular inhale and exhale guidance accompanies the sound experience, followed by session completion.
Settings lead to permission for reading and writing mindful minutes, then a weekly activity chart.
04 / OUTCOME & REFLECTION
Created screens for mood selection, duration, breathing guidance and session completion. Settings include Apple Health mindful-minute permissions and a weekly history view.
A conversation-app design inspired by my girlfriend’s need for timely replies when unsure about Korean. I designed voice-message and notification screens, and explored time limits and Live Activity as ways to encourage prompt responses.
